The Power of Art Over Radiation Treatment

I wanted to share with you all this week a great article about kids taking control over their radiation treatment. Did you know that for some types of radiation treatment patients must wear a special mask that keeps their head in just the right spot during radiation? The mask itself can look quite scary, even to adults. It is a type of plastic mesh that covers the whole face like a glove. The mask is actually bolted to the table to keep the head from moving even in the slightest. This is a huge deal for the patient and can be difficult to say the least. Some patients have found though that by taking the mask and turning it into art helps them express their varying feelings regarding the treatment.
