This month is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and at work there has been many different events happening to raise awareness. Most recently we did a lip sync battle that I had the pleasure of participating in. There many different groups performing fun 1 minute versions of popular songs and the kids judged using emojis. It was great to see the creativity and excitement shared by all. I was actually a little nervous because I was doing one by myself and I didn’t realize how much attention the event would draw. But as a performer I was also super excited to be combining my love of Child Life with my love of theatre. To all my child life friends out there I definitely recommend this activity. It takes some planning as well as some outgoing people, but it’s also a great way to get people from all disciplines involved. At our hospital the spiritual care team showed off their inner Simba, music therapy got down with the minions, and the rehab team donned full on habits to make a joyful noise.
